Meet our London Marathon runner!

Meet Lauren, who is taking on the London Marathon in aid of RASASC on 2 October

28-year-old Lauren from Camberley is taking on the mammoth challenge to help raise awareness of RASASC and our work across Surrey, supporting survivors of rape and sexual abuse over the age of 13.

Lauren says: “I’ve never done a marathon before, and after doing a half marathon in 2021, I swore I’d never to do it again... yet here I am now training for a full one!

“I am supporting RASASC because I believe the work they do in helping survivors of rape and sexual abuse is truly life changing. I want to raise money to give survivors the opportunity to access services, reclaim their lives and put a middle finger up to those who hurt them.”

We're thrilled Lauren is taking on the challenge of the London Marathon to raise awareness of our helpline, counselling and Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) services.  All RASASC services are free, confidential and non-judgemental. To find our more, visit the Get Support page of our website.

Good luck to Lauren for the 2nd October and thank you so much for supporting RASASC, the whole team at RASASC will be cheering you on!

We’re pleased with the news that children who have experienced child sexual abuse and exploitation are now to be considered in the new Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) strategy, as announced by MP Jess Phillips. The new VAWG strategy was due to be published in the summer, but has now been pushed back towards the end of 2025. We will have to wait until the final strategy is released to see the impact it will have for those concerned. RASASC was part of a large contingent of signatories on an open letter to the Home Secretary, requesting that victims of child sexual abuse and exploitation be included within the VAWG strategy. We are delighted that this action has had a positive impact. Following several delays and a degree of mystery surrounding what will be in the final version, we sincerely hope that the completed VAWG strategy has heeded the advice and recommendations from experts, to deliver an effective and fully resourced plan of action.
