Clare takes on Swim Serpentine for RASASC
Supporter Clare lets us know why she's decided to take on Swim Serpentine for RASASC!
Clare is taking on the challenge of Swim Serpentine along with her friend Liz on 20 September. We caught up with her to find out why she decided to take on this challenge for RASASC:
Have you ever done anything like this before or taken on an open water swim?
My first medium distance was last year, I swam 4km at the Wild Swimming Festival
and I was hooked!
How is training going, do you feel ready for the big day?
I've been training hard. Strength work and two hours in the pool every Sunday plus a 40 minute sea swim once a week in preparation.
Do you have a plan for the event or a time/goal you would like to achieve?
Hahaha...my goal is to always to finish strong but most importantly, with a smile on my face!
Why did you decide to do Swim Serpentine for RASASC?
A charity that plays such an important role of support for such a traumatic situation, deserves to have funds raised for it. RASASC is a key cornerstone of support for so many victims whose lives can be shattered. It's amazing what you do!!!
Will you have anyone supporting you on the day?
Yes. I am swimming with my good friend Liz (who is also fundraising for RASASC) and I'll have good friends and family there too.
How is fundraising going?
Its going well so far, I hope I can reach a £300 target. I am very close!
Thank you so much Clare for taking on this incredible challenge for us, and good luck! You can make a donation to Clare's swim through her fundraising page.

We’re pleased with the news that children who have experienced child sexual abuse and exploitation are now to be considered in the new Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) strategy, as announced by MP Jess Phillips. The new VAWG strategy was due to be published in the summer, but has now been pushed back towards the end of 2025. We will have to wait until the final strategy is released to see the impact it will have for those concerned. RASASC was part of a large contingent of signatories on an open letter to the Home Secretary, requesting that victims of child sexual abuse and exploitation be included within the VAWG strategy. We are delighted that this action has had a positive impact. Following several delays and a degree of mystery surrounding what will be in the final version, we sincerely hope that the completed VAWG strategy has heeded the advice and recommendations from experts, to deliver an effective and fully resourced plan of action.
