Sexual violence doesn’t stop for Christmas
Christmas can be really difficult for survivors of sexual harm.
At a time of year associated with happiness and spending time with loved ones, survivors of sexual harm can fight a lonely battle to survive the festive period.
Research shows that most survivors know their abuser and an estimated 500,000 children a year suffer childhood sexual abuse. Christmas and New Year festivities can be especially painful; often reuniting survivors with their abuser, reminding them of broken family relationships or triggering memories of past abuse.
