Helpline Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in becoming a helpline volunteer. We are not recruiting any new volunteers for our helpline at this time. We will update this page when we start the next round of recruitment.

Are you:

  • Female, and aged 23 or older?
  • A good listener?
  • Non-judgemental?
  • Caring?
  • A clear speaker?
  • Reliable?
  • Committed?

If so, you could join our team as a helpline volunteer. No previous experience or qualifications are necessary.

*Please note: due to the nature of the work, this post has a genuine occupational requirement to be open to females only and is exempt under the Equality Act 2010 pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1.*

What we can offer?

We give all our helpline volunteers extensive training to prepare them for the role. Once your training is completed, you will be supported by regular supervision, including a monthly group session, and ongoing training.

What does the role involve?

All volunteers must be able to:

  • Volunteer for one shift every two weeks, with each shift lasting two and a half hours (7.15pm to 9.45pm)
  • Attend a face-to-face group clinical supervision evening from 7pm to 9pm, every three months.
  • Attend both a 1:1 Zoom call with your supervisor and online group supervision on the alternate months.
  • Commit to volunteering for at least 18 months, given the significant amount of training involved.

Please note that unfortunately, this volunteer opportunity is not suitable for University students who are only available in term time.
